Wondering wanderer

Things I think about:

  • Apparently the world average life expectancy in 1900 was 31. Before that it was less so to my mind most people were dying before anyone's hair went grey. What happened the first time someone started greying? Did they get shunned? Were they isolated? Burned at the stake?
  • Video games have long been accused of normalising violence. Has being able to choose an avatar in video games allowed people to investigate and experiment with their gender identity?
  • Lindt chocolate in South Africa has no nutritional information on it. It is literally the only food product I have seen that seems to have escaped that requirement. How did that happen. Is that a South African thing? A Lindt thing?
  • Why are crisp/chip packets not internationally standardised? Salt and Vinegar chips should be blue, Cheese and Chives should be green, Tomato should be red etc.
  • How come civil servants have a strict retirement age but that doesn't apply to world leaders?
  • What was the old normal?
